David Myers is a life-long educator in Prince George’s County. He earned a B.A. in Physics at The Johns Hopkins University and a master’s in Science Education from the University of Maryland. As a high school physics teacher he taught physics, AP physics, and astronomy, as well as a senior research course. He served as science department chair at Eleanor Roosevelt High School. He was recognized as the county’s Outstanding Science Teacher one year and as a finalist for the state of Maryland in the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science. Now retired after 39 years in public high school science classrooms, he continues to teach a long-running Summer Science Institute physics class for elementary school teachers at Prince George’s Community College each summer. David has been an active church member for many years, singing in the church choir and leading both adult Sunday School classes and Bible studies. He has been involved with Side by Side since its beginning, serving on the charter Board of Directors and as Treasurer and President.
