Jane Hanfman taught for nearly 30 years in both private preschool and public elementary schools in Prince George’s County. She is a proud graduate of Prince George’s County schools herself, and earned a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Human Development from the University of Maryland. Her graduate school area of focus was conflict resolution, cementing her belief that a child’s family dynamics and overall functioning plays a critical role in determining that child’s overall school and personal success. Internships with the Prince George’s County Circuit Court and the Maryland State Department of Education as she assisted families in resolving child custody disputes and special education issues strengthened her belief that when true partnerships exist between home and school, optimal success for each and every child can be achieved. She is head of Side by Side’s Program Team.
